While this book is an adult selection, I HAD to include it in the list because it was so good. It was a complete surprise because I didn't think that I would be interested in the subject matter... I couldn't have been more wrong. This book is written entirely in a series of letters between members of a literary society.

The book is a work of historical fiction based on life during world war two on a small island off the coast of England. During this time, the Germans were occupying the territory and making life difficult for the citizens of Guernsey. The towns people created the literary society to serve as a cover for being able to talk to each other and get enough food to eat. What they found was a chance to learn to love literature.

I give this book a 10 out of 10. It is an excellent read!
