Battle of Jericho
Sharon Draper I want to start by reminding you that Sharon Draper will be here at GLHS on March 23, 2010. Make sure that you get the chance to read some of her work before coming to see her! It will make a huge difference while watching her presentation.
Jericho is the first book in this particular series about a group of African American high school students. Jericho and his cousin Josh are invited to join the Warriors of Distiction, the elite club in the high school. They are immeadiately excited about this opportunity... that is until they find out that it requires them to do things that they wouldn't normally do. Through a hazing process both Josh and Jericho have to decide whether this group is worth the risky price of admission.
I give this book a 6 out of 10. I think that the story is good, but it was predictable at times. It was a fast read and kept my interest until the end.
